Anadarko Petroleum Corporation received the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) 2013 Corporate Achievement Award for its commitment to habitat enhancement projects in two Pennsylvania counties it serves.

Anadarko partnered with the NWTF Pennsylvania State Chapter to hold a first "Fueling Conservation" dinner in Williamsport in 2011 that raised $30,000 for wildlife conservation. A second dinner in 2012 raised about $65,000. Anadarko contributed $15,000 of the total each year.

"It's made a great impact on conservation in that area," said NWTF regional biologist Bob Eriksen. Anadarko's relationship with the NWTF began with a $10,000 donation in 2010 to help fund habitat enhancement projects on Loyalsock, Sproul and Tiadaghton state forests.

As part of its commitment, Anadarko also recruited ancillary industries to take part in the Fueling Conservation dinners, which were hosted by the Bald Eagle Longbeards and the Susquehanna Longbeards local NWTF chapters.

"Fueling Conservation" is a great example of what can be accomplished when conservation organizations and industry join forces," Eriksen said.

The NWTF, a nonprofit organization, is the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation. Through dynamic partnerships with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF and its members have helped restore 17.3 million acres of wildlife habitat, investing $412 million.

Since the NWTF's founding in 1973, the North American wild turkey population has increased from 1.3 million to 6.5 million with wild turkey inhabiting 99 percent of suitable habitat.

Anadarko volunteers supported the sixth annual Sky High for St. Jude Texas Clay Shoot event in February 2013. Since 2007, Sky High for St. Jude has raised more than $1 million to further cancer research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and to enhance in-patient facilities at Ronald McDonald House in Memphis, Tenn. Sky High for St. Jude focuses its fundraising and outreach toward patients from the Gulf Coast region in Texas and Louisiana. Anadarko recently hosted a group of educators on a tour of its Eagleford Shale operations in conjunction with GeoFORCE Texas. GeoFORCE Texas is a selective outreach program of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin that, as descirbed on its website, encouarges students from minority-serving high schools in rural South Texas and inner-city Houston to take part in rigorous math and science curriculums and pursue higher education in the area of geosciences.

Anadarko received the Platts Global Energy Award for Premier Project, Engineering at the Platts Global Energy Awards gala in New York City on Nov. 29, 2012. The award recognized the company's innovative work on its Caesar/Tonga development in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Caesar/Tonga is located in approximately 5,000 feet of water and is tied back to Anadarko's 100-percent-owned Constitution spar, which is a floating production facility that began producing the Constitution and Ticonderoga fields in 2006. Because the company was able to use existing infrastructure to develop the new discoveries at Caesar and Tonga, it avoided more than $1 billion of costs that would've been associated with developing a stand-alone floating production facility. Furthermore, Caesar/Tonga was developed using the first application of a steel lazy wave riser system in the Gulf of Mexico -- also the first time this technology had been used to tie back a new discovery to an existing facility.

This marked the fourth time the company has earned an engineering excellence award from Platts, dating back to 2002 when it was recognized for the Nansen and Boomvang spars, which were the world's first truss spars. Again it earned the award in 2005 for Marco Polo, which was the world's first mini tension leg platform (TLP), and in 2008, Anadarko earned the award along with Enterprise Products Partners for Independence Hub, which at the time was the deepest and largest offshore natural gas processing facility in the world.

The Anadarko Ocean Current Power Generation prototype converts the flowing ocean water stream's kinetic energy into electrical energy. This renewable energy source technology is applicable wherever constant strong currents exist within close proximity to land and populations. Some of these areas include southeastern Florida, Caribbean Islands, Japan and South Africa. This continuous renewable energy source is designed to have virtually no environmental impacts. The propeller design minimizes the effects on the aquatic ecosystem with protective rings.

Anadarko has been actively researching and developing this renewable energy concept for the past four years. For this energy source technology, patents have been applied for and received in Europe, EuroAsia, the United States, Japan, Indonesia and South Africa. Indicative of the growth of Anadarko's Wattenberg HZ program in northeastern Colorado, the company presented officials with Weld County a $52 million check, symbolic of Anadarko's 2011 tax contributions to the county. Anadarko's Greater Natural Buttes project in the Uinta Basin of northeastern Utah received official approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior on May 8, 2012. On April 10, 2012, Anadarko was named Denver's Top Work Place by the Denver Post. Anadarko currently employs more than 800 men and women in its Denver office, which also serves as the company's headquarters for its oil and natural gas operations in the Rocky Mountain region.

In presenting the award, the Denver Post highlighted Anadarko's high participation rate in its anonymous employee survey, of which 92 percent participated. The surveys revealed that Anadarko scored highly in the areas of culture, confidence in the leadership team, breadth of career opportunities, the value placed on teams and individuals within the organization and the company's benefits.

For well over a decade, Anadarko has partnered with Junior Achievement, an organization dedicated to teaching students about the real-world work environment. Anadarko's most recent Junior Achievement program included more than 100 of the company's engineers, geo-scientists, information-technology experts, as well as legal, finance and accounting profesionals located in the Houston and Denver. These employees volunteered their time to provide hands-on lessons and experiences that enhance students' understanding of finance, workforce readiness, creative problem-solving and entrepreneurship.

Anadarko and its partners safely conducted a successful flow test at the Barquentine-2 well offshore Mozambique during early March 2012. The drillstem test exhibited exceptional flow characteristics indicative of a highly productive reservoir with good continuity. The flow test was conducted by the Deepwater Millennium drillship in the deep waters off the northern coast of Mozambique, where the company has drilled eight successful wells since 2010 and made one of the most significant natural gas discoveries in the last decade.

Flow testing is an essential step in confirming the productivity of a reservoir to determine the optimal development scenarios for a field. By determining the flow characteristics, Anadarko expects to be able to design the appropriate subsea architecture that will enable its partnership to efficiently and safely produce these natural gas resources.

Anadarko and the co-owners of the Caesar/Tonga project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico celebrated first production on March 7, 2012. The Caesar/Tonga discoveries are located in more than 5,000 feet of water about 135 miles off the coast of Louisiana. Because Anadarko already operated infrastructure in the area, the project was able to be safely tied back at a significant cost savings. This achievement marks another example of Anadarko's deepwater expertise and an important source of domestically produced energy.

Anadarko is among the most active particpants in FracFocus.org, an online, public registry where oil and natural gas companies provide the ingredients used in hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is the process of injecting a solution of mainly water and sand more than a mile underground into oil or natural gas-bearing formations. The pressure opens pathways for the resource to flow into the wellbore, and the sand props opens the pathways. Additives make up a very small percentage of the total volume and are used to enhance the effectiveness of the process. Fracfocus.org was developed by the Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC) and Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) in an effort to enhance transparency with regard to hydraulic fracturing technology, which is essential in producing domestic energy.

Anadarko is continuing to expand its use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in its fleet vehicles throughout its U.S. onshore operating areas. The company is working with various municipalities and others to develop infrastructure throughout the Rocky Mountain region, in Texas and expanding its program as opportunities and technology evolve.

Natural gas vehicles, or NGVs, emit significantly less than traditional gasoline- or diesel-powered cars and trucks. Converting one heavy-duty truck from diesel to natural gas offers the emissions-reduction equivalent of taking 325 cars off the road. Natural gas is cleaner, abundant, affordable and more than 90% of the natural gas consumed in the United States is produced in North America.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Anadarko employees at the company's headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas participated in Go Pink Day on Oct. 19, 2011.

Anadarko partners with the Center for Digital Inclusion (CDI) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to share lessons in information technology. Anadarko's IT experts provided hands on lessons in electronics, computers and how technology is applied in the oil and natural gas industry.

Anadarko supports CDI's mission of using technology to combat poverty, provide opportunities to lower-income populations and spur a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Wyoming's Natrona County Commissioners take a moment to recognize Anadarko as a "valuable corporate citizen through its economic, employment and social contributions to the citizens of Natrona County," at a meeting of the county commission in June 2011.

Commissioners commented on Anadarko's Salt Creek carbon dioxide sequestration project as an example of investment that has generated significant tax revenue and economic benefit for the community.

Anadarko teams up with Trinity Science Solutions in the Cotulla and Carrizo Springs Independent School Districts to share the importance of science in shaping our future. Both ISDs are located in southwest Texas near Anadarko's operations in the Eagleford Shale.

Attending students had the opportunity to listen to lessons in geology, ask questions about geologic history and walk through an inflatable canyon showing the various rock layers and the formation of energy resources.

More than 70 volunteers from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation participated in a "Day of Caring" with the Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch near The Woodlands, Texas in early November. The Ranch helps children with special needs through the use and care for horses. This marked the second consecutive year that Anadarko has partnered with the Ranch, and the 10th year overall for the company's annual Day of Caring.

Anadarko's employees recognize, honor and thank America's veterans during a Veteran's Day celebration at the company's corporate offices in The Woodlands, Texas.

Anadarko Director, Engineering, Jim Raney led the ceremony. "Our veterans have charged into harm's way, sometimes making the ultimate sacrifice, to protect the freedoms that we have in America today. Our nation's finest citizens are just ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things," said Raney.

On Nov. 3, 2011, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas was recognized as the Houston Chronicle's Top Work Place, in the large companies category, for the second consecutive year. The selection is primarily based upon answers to an all-employee survey that is administered through the Houston Chronicle. Anadarko's employees highlighted a number of attributes including the overall work environment, a strong set of core values, amenities, an on-site physician, compensation, efficient processes and professional challenges.

Anadarko's Chairman and CEO, Jim Hackett, was also recognized with a special Leadership Award at this year's awards gala. In 2010, Anadarko was also named the Top Work Place in the large companies category and received special recognition for ethics.

Anadarko is among a number of energy producers in Colorado that is participating in a baseline groundwater-quality sampling program established by the Colorado Oil and Gas Association (COGA), Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. The program was developed to provide greater transparency and assurance that oil and natural gas operations in the state are conducted in a manner that protects groundwater.

As part of the program, announced in August 2011, oil and gas operators that drill wells on new pads will collect groundwater samples before and after drilling. The data will be provided to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC), who will manage it in a central database.

Anadarko teamed up with Trinity Science Solutions in joining other energy providers to celebrate and highlight the importance of energy in our lives as part of Houston Energy Day 2011.

Anadarko's volunteers shared information about the oil and natural gas industry through interactive games and exhibits, including a life-size inflatable Canyon, provided by Trinity Science Solutions, which offered an up-close and hands-on look at how Anadarko and other energy producers safely find and develop energy resources trapped in layers of the Earth's crust. Anadarko volunteers shared lessons on the environment, safety, technology, job opportunities, and the different ways domestic oil and natural gas benefits America, our economy and our energy security.

Each year, Anadarko's teams from across the company's operating areas meet to highlight EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) accomplishments as part of the company's Safety and Environmental Excellence Program (SEEP). The meetings are one of the many ways Anadarko shares EHS best practices that can be applied to other operating areas in an effort to continuously improve safety, protection of health and preservation of the environment.

Anadarko employees in the company's Uxbridge office participate in the annual Three Peaks Challenge benefiting Care International, which provides emergency services in the wake of natural disasters. Anadarko's Three Peaks Challenge team raised approximately £15,000, which equates to just under $25,000 for Care International. Nine Anadarko employees accomplished the feat in 2011, which involves walking the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in a 24-hour period.

Anadarko's employees in Carthage, Texas recently cut the ribbon on a brand new natural gas refueling station as part of the company's pilot project that is expanding the use of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) throughout its U.S. onshore fleet. Anadarko is replacing many of its diesel vehicles with newer trucks that run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

NGVs are 25 percent cleaner than vehicles that run on traditional fuels, and it costs up to 40 percent less at the pump. Converting just one waste truck to natural gas is the pollution-reduction equivalent of taking 325 cars off the road.

Anadarko volunteers teach lessons in oil and natural gas development to students in the Carrizo Springs Independent School District.as part of the SAYES Academy. The students learned about the methods used by energy companies to safely produce energy from far below the earth's surface. Volunteers from Anadarko shared lessons regarding the imporance of safety equipment, seismic technology, horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, water conservation and other innovative technologies that enable energy production to occur, as well as how we all use energy in our own lilves every day.

A representative of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's Environment, Health and Safety team discusses the company's approach to protecting New Zealand's natural resources as it evaluates deepwater exploration plans in the Canterbury and Taranaki basins. From its initial examinations of ocean conditions, currents, weather patterns and wildlife, Anadarko has worked to understand local considerations and tailor its exploration plans accordingly.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's Uxbridge office continued its 11-year partnership with the Iver Environment Centre and Fulmer Infant School in Uxbridge that provides children with opportunities to learn about nature, wildlife and the importance of protecting our environment. The Iver Environment Centre, formerly called the Iver Nature Study Centre, is part of the National Grid's network of six environmental education centers and opened in 1990. It features five learning zones: rainforest and tepee; orchard and meadow; pond and wetland; woodland; and allotment and pizza oven.

Anadarko's funding and partnership continues to help the largely volunteer-run effort reach children of all ages and provides opportunities to learn more about our natural world.

Anadarko's employees in Beijing, China observe Earth Day each year by participating in community efforts to enhance the environment. In recent years, the company's employees have planted trees in local parks in Beijing. This year, our employees and their families grabbed plastic bags and tongs to clean up trash and litter along scenic areas of the city.

The Anadarko office in Beijing is responsible for the operation of the company's oil producing field in Bohai Bay, which began production in 2004.

Anadarko's Manager of Exploration for the Asia Pacific region, Jeff Oslund discusses the company's focus and dedication to safety and protecting the environment at this year's ENEX conference in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Oslund provided information about Anadarko's industry-leading deepwater exploration, development and production experience and expertise to an audience of industry peers and others. Oslund stressed the central role that Anadarko's core values of integrity and trust, servant leadership, commercial focus and open communication play in the company's decisions and actions. He also highlighted the steps Anadarko has taken to ensure safety is a top priority, along with addressing environmental concerns and considerations as it develops exploration plans offshore New Zealand in the deepwater Canterbury and Taranaki basins.

Oslund outlined Anadarko's efforts to engage with local stakeholders throughout New Zealand and the opportunities that oil and natural gas development can provide in terms of jobs, tax revenue, royalties and other associated economic activity.

Anadarko Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Hackett, who also serves as the Chairman of America's Natural Gas Alliance addresses the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Baltimore, Maryland on June 20. Hackett discussed the importance and benefits of natural gas as an answer to many of our nation's energy challenges. Hackett's speech focused on natural gas's affordability, abundance, domestic location, environmental benefits and job-creating capabilities. He also highlighted cities that are taking leading roles in utilizing natural gas for electricity generation and fleet transportation.

Hackett also discussed the issue of hydraulic fracturing, an essential and proven technology that, along with horizontal drilling techniques, has unlocked massive quantities of natural gas in North America. Anadarko and ANGA have been instrumental in the creation of the Ground Water Protection Council's voluntary public registry for ingredients used in fracturing. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's cycling team recently completed the 2011 MS150, raising more than $300,000 toward the effort of eradicating multiple sclerosis (MS). Anadarko's MS150 team consisted of more than 130 cyclists that included employees, family members and friends. The race begins in Houston and riders crossed the finish line in Austin on April 17, 2011.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation partners with the Carrizo Springs Independent School District, U.S. Border Patrol, Dimmitt County Hospital and Carrizo Springs Emergency Medical Services to host LiveSafe rallies at the Carrizo Springs Junior High and High School in southwest Texas. The rallies encouraged youth to make safety a priority as they leave school for summer break. Anadarko also hosted informational booths at both schools to answer questions from students, parents and faculty regarding oil and natural gas operations in the Eagleford Shale play that is prevalent throughout the area.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation volunteers with the BLAST (Bringing Literacy and Students Together) program supported a trip to the Children's Museum in Houston for BLAST students at Oak Ridge Elementary School in the Conroe Independent School District. Anadarko volunteers mentor students throughout the year as part of this unique reading program that benefits students who need assistance with reading and individual instruction.

Whether in operations, exploration, planning, midstream, permitting, regulatory or environment, health and safety, the iMAPS program enhances communication, efficiency and understanding among all of the company's operating teams.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, through a wholly owned subsidiary, has partnered with the Bureau of Land Management, Wyoming Game & Fish Department and other operators in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming to provide funding in support of an ongoing wildlife conservation program. The program is designed to protect and study the local elk population and habitat in an area where the companies produce natural gas. The funding was used to purchase and deploy telemetric collars, which enable wildlife officials to remotely monitor movement and activities of the herd. Anadarko and other participants expect the findings of the study to provide useful information in tailoring operations to protect the elk.

Anadarko also has participated in numerous other wildlife studies in Wyoming, including research activities for the sage grouse, mule deer and Wyoming pocket gopher. Each of these efforts has been recognized by organizations such as the Game & Fish Department and BLM as positive and proactive measures that preserve habitat and native species.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation hosts its 2011 Earth Fair to highlight the company's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, as well as its partnerships with environmentally responsible organizations. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation employees in Texas and the Rocky Mountain region have built a 10-plus year relationship with Habitat for Humanity. This partnership has played an instrumental role in the construction of the first Habitat for Humanity subdivision near Conroe, Texas and one of the first "green" housing complexes in Denver.

Anadarko"s Drilling Operations Manager Randy Sprouse discusses Anadarko's drilling program in the horizontal Niobrara play, located in southeastern Wyoming and northeastern Colorado. Anadarko is one of the largest producers in Wyoming and owns significant acreage throughout the Land Grant that runs across the southern portion of Wyoming and into northeastern Colorado.

Anadarko has recently begun testing the horizontal Niobrara play as it evaluates the potential of this oil-bearing formation more than 8,000 feet below the surface.

Anadarko's Appalachian Basin management team partnered with the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy to conduct a stream bank restoration project in an area near Anadarko's Marcellus operations. This restoration project also combined the efforts of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and numerous community volunteers.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation was named Houston's Top Work Place for large companies in 2010 by the Houston Chronicle. The award was based on the results of employee surveys that gathered information on work/life balance, compensation, job satisfaction, trust in leadership and career advancement opportunities. Additionally, Anadarko received special recognition from the newspaper for its corporate ethics.

Anadarko's Timberloch building in The Woodlands, Texas, became the second building at its corporate headquarters to earn LEED certification.

A LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification is determined by the U.S. Green Building Council based on its Green Building Rating System, an internationally recognized green building certification system that that awards points for efficiency programs in building operations and maintenance. These can include stormwater quantity control, green-cleaning policy, lighting controls and sustainable purchasing practices.

Anadarko's Tower and Timberloch buildings comprise the first LEED certified office complex in The Woodlands.

Anadarko's employees continue their support of Junior Achievement with the 2011 JA Bowlathon. More than 183 people, representing 36 teams participated in the 2011 event in The Woodlands, Texas. In total, the effort raised more than $32,000 for Junior Achievement.

Junior Achievement is a worldwide program that helps students prepare for the real world by inviting volunteers from the business community into the classroom to teach students about business, financial literacy and work force readiness.

Anadarko's cycling teams are gearing up for another bicycle race from Houston to Austin in support of curing MS. Each year, the number of Anadarko participants increases and has recently included more than 300 riders. Additionally, the company has contributed more than $5 million since beginning its support of the MS 150 in 1989.

Anadarko hosts engineering students from Carl Wunsche Sr. High School in Spring, Texas, at the company's headquarters. These high school engineering students listened to the career experiences of Anadarko's employees and discussed the the imporance of the oil and natural gas industry, as well as the prerequisites and benefits of a career in petroleum engineering and related fields.

Dozens of Anadarko's U.S. employees participate each year in the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" day. The annual event raises awareness about the dangers of heart disease for women and raises money to fund research.

According to the American Heart Association, since 2004, Go Red For Women has contributed almost $44 million to research programs focused on women.

Anadarko's John Broman participates in an energy discussion at Alexander Dawson School in Lafayette, Colorado. Panelists included leaders with knowledge of alternative energy and conventional sources. Broman discussed the future of natural gas and the foundational role it should play as a cleaner, abundant, domestic and secure alternative for electric power generation and fleet transportation.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's Colorado employees participate in the National Western Stock Show Parade celebrating Denver's rich western culture. Anadarko is proud to support the National Western Stock Show (WWSS), which is a premier livestock show and rodeo in the region. Anadarko's annual "Just Can It" competition is part of the company's United Way fundraising campaign that directly benefits the Montgomery County Food Bank. In 2010, more than 10,000 cans, or 30,000 to 35,000 pounds of food were donated -- that's enough food to feed more than 10,000 people, according to the Food Bank.
