Wattenberg Gathering System
Overview
The premier gas gathering system in the Denver Julesburg Basin, northeast of Denver, is the Anadarko Midstream-owned and operated Wattenberg gathering system. This asset has been operated on a stand alone basis for nearly 15 years. It has the competitive advantage of the overall lowest average system pressure and historically low FL&U. Anadarko's Midstream commitment operate in the basin is evidenced by its commitment to a new 90,000 barrels-per-day crude oil line that extend out of the DJ Basin to Cushing, Oklahoma. As part of this commitment, Anadarko was contracted and operates a 100,000-barrel tank and truck unloading terminal at Platteville, Colorado as a treating and blending operation.
Company-operated production represents about 62 percent of the total system throughput. The operation and management of the gathering system focus is on reliability and low system operating pressures. Natural gas is delivered for processing to many third-party plants including:
- BP - Wattenberg Plant
- EnCana - Fort Lupton Plant
- AKA Energy Plant
- DCP area plants
- Aggressive well connection program
