Anadarko Joins Deepwater Containment Consortiums
Central to its commitment to operate in a safe and environmentally sound manner, Anadarko has joined both the Marine Well Containment Company and the Helix Well Containment Group. Each organization was established to provide equipment and expertise for rapid intervention, containment and response in the event of a subsea spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
- The Helix Well Containment Group (HWCG) is a consortium of 22 deepwater operators in the Gulf of Mexico who have come together with the common goal of quickly responding to a subsea spill to protect employees, communities and the environment. Bringing together the technical expertise and resources from these diverse operators, and building upon equipment tested and proven in the Deepwater Horizon response, the HWCG has developed a deepwater well containment response system capable of being immediately deployed in the event of a deepwater spill.
- The Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) is a not-for-profit, independent organization committed to improving capabilities for containing a potential future underwater well control incident in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
