 International / Frontier Producing

Anadarko has been a global player for nearly two decades and currently has production in Alaska, Algeria, China and Ghana. We have a strong history of safely bringing international projects on stream, on schedule and within budget. When entering new areas, we also conduct and fund social and environmental impact studies to ensure our operations are conducted in harmony with the local culture, land, air and water.

Ghana

On Dec. 15, 2010, Anadarko and its partners announced first oil from the world-class Jubilee field offshore Ghana. The project achieved this milestone in just 3.5 years following first discovery, a record timeframe for a project of this scale. Jubilee serves as a foundation in this prolific basin that provides the potential for future growth and value with adjacent discoveries and development success. You may view a video celebrating first production at Jubilee on our YouTube channel.

Algeria

Anadarko is engaged in exploration, development and production activities in Algeria's Sahara Desert. The company and its partnerships are currently producing oil from three mega projects (Ourhoud, HBNS and El Merk). Although production from El Merk commenced in March 2013, Anadarko's Algeria partnership surpassed a significant milestone in 2012 from the Ourhoud and HBNS facilities: 1.5 billion barrels of cumulative gross oil production.

When Anadarko signed the Production Sharing Agreement with Sonatrach at the end of the 1980s, we made a commitment to perform as much of the work in Algeria as possible, including the sub-surface management. In 1998, Sonatrach and Anadarko formed a joint-operating association called Groupement Berkine.

Today, Groupement Berkine's management is based in Hassi Messaoud. The facility operations and engineering departments, maintenance, logistics and health, safety and environment employees are located at the field site in Hassi Berkine. Additionally, the partnership initiated oil producation at its latest mega project in Algeria at El Merk. El Merk will feature two 65,000 BOPD (barrels of oil per day) trains and 600 MMcf/d of natural gas processing.
