Anadarko has been a global player for nearly two decades and currently has exploration and/or production in Alaska, Algeria, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mozambique and Sub-Saharan Africa. We have a strong history of bringing international projects on stream, on schedule and within budget. When entering new areas, we also conduct and fund social and environmental impact studies to ensure our operations are conducted in harmony with the local culture, land, air and water.

Algeria
Anadarko is engaged in exploration, development and production activities in Algeria's Sahara Desert. At the end of 2008, about 9 percent of the company's proved reserves were located in Algeria where a total of nine fields discovered by Anadarko were on production. In 2009, Anadarko's Algeria operations surpassed a significant milestone -- 1 billion barrels of cumulative gross production.
When Anadarko signed the Production Sharing Agreement with Sonatrach at the end of the 1980s, we made a commitment to perform as much of the work in Algeria as possible, including the sub-surface management. In 1998, Sonatrach and Anadarko formed a joint-operating association called Groupement Berkine.
Today, Groupement Berkine's management is based in Hassi Messaoud. The facility operations and engineering departments, maintenance, logistics and health, safety and environment employees are located at the field site in Hassi Berkine.
