Wattenberg HZ: Technology

Applying Technology to Safely Maximize Value

The application of technology in the Wattenberg field is the key to unlocking the area’s tremendous resource potential. The combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing is extending the productive life of this prolific area, expanding the economic benefits for Colorado, and playing an important role in reducing America's need for imported energy. Anadarko invested more than $1.5 billion in capital in 2013, as it significantly grew production from its horizontal drilling program.

Committed to Operating Safely

In 2014, Anadarko again received recognition from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) for its environmental protection efforts and operational enhancements.

In early 2014, Colorado adopted new air-quality regulations that were the result of a collaborative effort among Anadarko, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Colorado's Governor, state regulators and two of the state's other leading operators. Under the new rules, operators will be required to utilize leading industry practices and abide by a more formalized process for detecting, controlling and reducing methane leaks and other emissions. Learn more about this unique collaboration by reading the governor's news release or visiting our YouTube channel.
