Anadarko is committed to being the best exploration and production company, and we're equally committed to being an integral part of the communities where we operate through volunteer involvement and contributions to non-profit organizations.
We are thoughtful in our actions, energetic in our efforts and inspired in our giving.
Education is important to us, and that is why schools are a core area of our philanthropic and volunteer focus. We volunteer through Junior Achievement to teach the basic principles of business and free enterprise at local schools. We support the effort to build homes to help change the lives of well-deserving families through Habitat for Humanity. And through our "Anadarko in Action" program 50 U.S. nonprofit organizations are awarded financial support for the volunteer efforts demonstrated by our employees.
Beyond work, we find personal time to lend a helping hand to participate and organize projects for specific needs in the community. Whether assisting community projects, or mobilizing volunteers to help rebuild lives after a disaster, we act to support global needs. We've organized food and clothing drives, and shaved our heads to raise funds for an employee's fight against cancer. We don't just respond - we act to make a difference and we see differences made.
One of the most effective ways we have found to create positive change in our communities is through United Way. The company has a long history of supporting United Way by matching employee donations dollar for dollar, which doubles what United Way can do in our communities. From serving on boards of local United Way affiliates, to lending a helping hand during Days of Caring, to pledging personal earnings, employees give generously to the cause. Anadarko grants financial support to hundreds of North American non-profit organizations and supports various university scholarship funds in engineering and science.
